so we have ub sanitizers now which besides many thing can check bounds at runtime
but they just write colorful diagnostic to stderr and there is no option to, for example, raise signal with info attached or, better, call custom handler.

SICP a bit more complicated. And finally, be careful out there, Scheme consists of recursion, and recursion, this can kill your car is worth losing a parenthesis.

I reached the epiphany that languages are trivial things, lambda
calculus will always exist as the ultimate means of describing
algorithms and it doesn't fall victim to user stupidity nor personal
preference. Long after all the languages you love, hate and use are
dead, lambda calculus will remain, and its true followers will still
conjure the spirits of the computer with their spells.

MCRYPT_RIJNDAEL_256 is not AES-256
MCRYPT_RIJNDAEL_128 is AES-256 when given a 32-byte key
and now I want PHP to never have ever existed

When in doubt, measure. When not in doubt, measure anyway. It's
impossible to predict where a bottleneck will occur. If you think
you're a smartass and can, you're wrong. Measuring, on the other hand,
is fast and doesn't lie. So: Measure!
